this book has done unto me emotional violence unlike any other story in the world
i am very particular about multiple perspectives and they were executed perfectly to my taste here - third person limited, distinct time frames, vocal narrator commentary
cried the whole back half but the reasons why were so varied !! 🤪
this has so many components of so many of the books i love already - it reminds me of lauren groff, especially the vaster wilds - part three specifically reminded me of the last days of judas iscariot by stephen adly gurgis (and i LOVE a quick pivot into stage direction, artfully executed here) - some of the narration and setting reminded me of my 2024 book of the year, open throat by henry hoke
