This book broke my heart, as I expected it would. And well, I knew what I was getting myself into.
The way this story is constructed, from the cast of characters and their development to the plot, is so well thought through, it was amazing. Sure, everything is a little on the nose, it slaps you in the face with its message, but I didn't mind that to be honest. To me, it simply made it easy to grapple with the complexity. Sometimes I need simple words to keep track of everything. (Even though I of course knew beforehand that colonialism is bad, that wasn't a revelation.)
I don't really know what else to say. Everything made perfect sense, even the ending. There was no way for this to end any other way.(Even though I hoped there would be. As in: At least Robin survives as well, but the more his character development continued, the more I saw it coming that there was no way for him to survive this story.)
