Dreams of the Dying by Nicolas Lietzau

5.0

I hope Nicolas pays me therapy and all the sticky notes I wasted by marking all the things I liked in this book. MAN THIS WAS SO GOOD.
I always say that if a book makes me read even when I have a headache it’s because it’s a fucking masterpiece. And well, this book was even more than that for me.

Firstly i need to thanks for finally some Bi Male mc representation. It’s really difficult nowadays to find Adult Fantasy books with an LGBT Male lead.

Now i’ll go and number al the things I liked about this book:

1st: The magic system, world building and some horror/gore-ish things: This was hilarious, imaginative and newfangled. The way Nicolas described everything with his fantastic prose also helped a lot to imagine all the spooky-magical places he created.

2nd: The investment on creating their own language and even show all the culture, traditions and even the smallest things you would believe about the people he created.

3rd: The discussion about morality, and other things that make you question what you think. All the philosophical parts where amazing I really enjoy this type of things on a book, when the characters discuss about politics, the different way every character thinks about something and how some actions can change their perspective...

Those are some of my favourite things on this book.
Obviously the character development is fantastic, all the plot twist make me go insane in each chapter.

The Hardback edition that I purchased its so good, it’s so well treated and all the extra things that comes + the story… This Book is so cared. I loved it.

I know it’s just February of 2022, and that there’s still a lot of days till this year finishes. But I can confirm that this is going to be one of my favourite reads of this year. May I apologise if this review is messy or confusing to understand since english it’s not my first language.

So i’ll just sum up all this and tell y’all you need to read this book.
