This book is so cute, and such a fun read! The characters have unique voices and personalities, and the storytelling takes on a life of its own - much like the sourdough starter, Bob.

Mona, our 14 year old protagonist, is content working in her aunt’s bakery and magicking the gingerbread men to dance. After discovering a dead body in the bakery, Mona is thrown into a world of corruption, war wizards, and incompetent adults.  She and her new friend, street kid Spindle, are now faced with the task of clearing Mona’s name, discovering the identity of the killer, and their most difficult task — getting an adult to listen

Brilliant book, a quick read, fantastic audiobook too. I’m definitely picking up more of T Kingfisher’s books after this
