Injection, Volume 2 by Warren Ellis
5.0
I think I loved this even more than the first volume. You can't really go wrong when you've got super smart, interesting, atypical characters, a weird mix of occult and technological goings on, and a well told, compelling narrative. There's a particularly brilliant section with a monologue tying together a lifetime of any and all sexual experiences that is equal parts hilarious and important to the character. After the first volume cast the net wide to introduce the premise and the major players involved, this one focuses mostly on the one character, making it a lot easier to follow. Hopefully subsequent volumes will do the same giving you plenty of time with each character whilst adding pieces to the bigger picture as it goes. The mix of detective story and mysticism worked really well here so fingers crossed we keep getting the same balance of humour, weirdness, strong characters and smart, compelling story as it progresses. I think we're in good hands though.
