I'm not good at reviews, but I said I'd review all the books I read this year so I'm making the effort. I felt like this was a perfect intermediary between the first and second novel of this series. It gave us more views into both Kell and Lilah in a less than dire situation whilst planting the seeds for the devastation of the third book. I really liked the fact that the bad was brewing in the back and didn't quite touch until the end, so we really got to see a lot from these characters' interactions with each other and others. It was important to me to learn more about them and that's why it made me more invested in the series and like it even more than the first book, even though the first did pull me in quite easily.

Overall, definitely one of the best sequels! Can't wait for the third.
