I happened across this book at a local used bookstore and discovered a new favorite! I loved seeing the view of the world and of a dying culture through the eyes of a child. I've always been a huge fan of traditional myths and legends and absolutely adored the legend of the mother deer. It is sad and hard to read at certain times, but I will definitely be rereading this and am so grateful to have this story in my collection!
