I was expecting to love this book similarly as I have with other Sanderson books. Sadly this was not the case. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t hate it,  however I am nowhere near loving it.
The worldbuilding and magic system, both of which are usually fantastic in his books, just left me confused. Using breath and drawing on color of everyday objects seems such a cool concept, but even after finishing the whole book I still don’t quite get how that works.
The history of the kingdoms, their conflicts, the "Gods" are all very interesting ideas. I was left however thinking I don't quite get this world.
Vivenna and Siri, the two princesses of Idris are both interesting in their own right and I enjoyed reading both POVs. The relationship between the princess and Susebron the God King did seem a little sus, but overall I found most all characters engaging. My favorite however had to have been Lightsong the reluctant god of bravery.
