A complex heroine, Circe has the voice of a mortal but she is a divine being. Rejected by her father and sisters, Circe finds herself ostracised after casting a spell to remove a love rival. She is sent to a remote island as punishment by her father, where she spends her time practising magic.
Many are destined to find her island. Many will not leave it. She spends time with Daedalus and Hermes, amongst others.
For years she lives alone with the child she bore to Odysseus, but eventually the time comes that she must decide what is important to her.
While the writing is lovely, the selfishness of the characters and the endless bickering is frustrating.
