A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews
5.0
I picked this book up after seeing so many positive reviews on Instagram and Goodreads (and also because the cover attracted me.
Beck's mother was once a renowned pianist who is no longer able to play; and therefore has pushed her ambition and goals onto her son Beck. Beck wants to do nothing more than compose his own music but the idea of rebelling against the maestro is too painful for thought.
Then out of no where August comes into his life and offers him friendship, laughter, and glimpse of escape.
I don't read as much as young adult as I once did but occasionally books like this slip onto my radar and they are amazing and so worth it. All the reviews I had seen prior to buying this book where just people saying they had had their hearts ripped out and I understand why now!
I loved this book from the get go and knew it would be one that I focused all my attention on and bask in its glory. I loved all the characters in this especially Joey. Beck has such an unquestionable love for Joey and will happy deal with any type of punishment or treatment the maestro throws his way as long as she is safe and unharmed.
What annoyed me was that the adults just all turned a blind eye to the state of Beck and Joey and never questioned why they were struggling at home or why clothes didn't fit or were unsuitable.
Also if i could have a friend like August, that would be great - thanks!
This is such a great debut novel by C G Drews and I'm excited to see what she comes up with next.
