Summer vibes with your best friends, and a trip to get away from the real world, and truly escape. That’s exactly what Oakley, Ava, Adam, Gracie, and Tyler had in mind when they went on vacation to Cancun. This story takes place after, “Lucky Hit” and before “Blissful Hook”, so I highly suggest you follow the reading order as it will make more sense when following the character’s storylines as well as create for a better, much enjoyable reading experience.
Ms. Hannah Cowan was not playing when it came to the romance and spice in this book! OOOOOO! I WAS LIVING FOR EVERY BIT IN THIS NOVELLA! All my faves having fun, getting to lay back and relax and… get right down to business *wink, wink. There were moments that my jaw just dropped and I was completely speechless. My man Tyler Bateman, still the grumpy, quiet one was trying to resist the allure and charm that was Gracie, but, nope! Things got very steamy between them, and Tyler and his DIRTY TALK! AHHHH I FREAKING LOVED IT (and him obviously). Once again make sure to read the other books in the Swift-Hat Trick series as this novella gives insight as to what exactly happened on the vacation that later gets referenced in the next books.
This novella was the perfect book to read during the summer. While I was indoors reading in the comfort of my home, I still felt like I was on vacation with the rest of the gang. Seeing everyone get together and have their fun was great, and it was an overall lighthearted, enjoyable book.
I will say that there was a tiny bit of angst due to Tyler trying to stay away from Gracie and trying to deny his attraction/ desire for her, especially because, that’s his best friend’s little sister. For Tyler, he didn’t want to jeopardize his friendship with Oakley because he was like family to him. Shoot the whole friend group is like family to each other so, for Tyler while he eventually did end up sneaking around with Gracie, he didn’t want to mess things up. Cut to Gracie, feeling sad and upset that while she was initially on board with just hooking up with Tyler, she still wanted more with him. I really love Tyler and Gracie, and this novella only touches on the beginning of what you’ll see in their own book, “Blissful Hook”.
Oakley and Ava, the first couple I read about in the Swift Hat-Trick series. I missed reading about them so to see them again in this novella was great. I especially liked the talk they had about their futures together and how sweet and loving they were whenever they were together. Also that scene with them on the jet ski!!! I got all hot and flustered reading that part… AND I LOVED IT! DON’T JUDGE ME! Again, make sure you read their book, “Lucky Hit” as well since you get to see how they met and everything that happened between up to the moment where we see them in this novella. Aww so happy to read about them again!
Now, Adam’s part in the novella wasn’t touched on as much as I initially thought, but he still did appear in the book for a good amount. I feel like once we get to his own book, we’ll be able to see the connections between that book and this novella, since I have a feeling that whatever happened in vacation will be explained more in his book. Also I loved how Adam was such a smart mouth and playing around with everyone, literally a sunshine guy! All smiles and good vibes.
Overall, this novella was great! The novella gave the perfect summer vibes, an escape into the world of Swift Hat-Trick series with these beloved characters and all the fun and spice they got into. Not to mention the little bits and pieces that connect to each character/ couple’s own books. If you’ve read, “Lucky Hit” go ahead and read this book and then move onto, “Blissful Hook” and work your way through the rest of the series. Hannah did a fantastic job with this novella and I’m feeling really good after reading it! Yay!
