Stranger In The Lake is another psychological thriller that I really wanted to be awed by; but somehow it missed its mark.

Charlotte, a young gas station attendant, met and married her dream man, Paul –
an older man whose first wife drowned in a tragic accident; though not many actually believe it to be an accident. Charlie ignores those rumours and the age difference between them that sets tongues wagging, believing, no knowing that she finally found her soul mate and her happily ever after.

When she finally hears some really good news; one that she believes will complete their small family and get her acceptance that even her being Paul’s wife has gotten her!

The evening before she breaks the good news to her husband, she rolls into town to pick up her husband, she sees him talking to a young pretty girl –
she doesn’t seem to think much about it then. But she has to, the next morning when she finds the girl’s body floating in the lake behind their house and her husband not only asks her to lie to the police about him talking to the girl, and promptly disappears without any information to her!

Stranger in The Lake is all about secrets and the wondering one has to go through when the rose gold glasses we see our loved ones with shatters beyond recognition. Again, this one had an intriguing plotline – but sadly enough, I saw the plot twist coming in a mile away!

What I didn’t see coming was the protagonist’s decision –
the way she stood up, not just for herself but also for what’s right had me applauding and respecting her – and the major reason why I have given the book the rating I have!
