I understand and sympathize with the tendency for loneliness to cause us to reach for attention and affection in unhinged, dark, and twisted ways on our worst days. And the concept of this novella is fascinating in terms of its structure, but aside from nauseating me a bit because of the gore, I felt it to be a bit translucent.
