Say You're Mine by Diane Alberts

4.0

I received an eARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The blurb makes this book sound really interesting – especially considering that this is a best friend to lovers kind of romance.
And I actually liked this – Steven and Lauren’s chemistry literally jumps off to you right from the first page, even if they acted like they didn’t have a scorching attraction between them :P

Steven is a man whore – not just by choice, but also because he believes that he isn’t cut out for relationships. Lauren is his best friend and the only long term “relationship” he has had in his whole life – so he keeps his distance, even if it means that he loathes seeing her with anyone else.
Lauren on the other hand, has been in love with Steven for as long s she can remember – but knowing his dereliction for relationships, she struggles to be content with her friendship with him.

Most of the best friends to lovers stories are clichés – because let’s face it, there aren’t a whole lot of ways for that kind of relationship to go through for HEA – but what makes a difference is the plot and the characters and that is exactly why this romance was something that I actually liked!

Both Steven and Lauren are strong characters individually – with both of them understanding where and how they went wrong and copping up to that – but it’s the combination of their personalities and the plot itself that makes the winning combination for this book and puts this author on my list of “Authors I would love to check out” *pun totally intended*
