I knew that the books were nothing like the tv series, so I will not weigh in on the differences in the characters and settings.

I did find that the narrative itself dragged a bit. You can tell that a forensic anthropologist wrote this, because the details get too bogged down sometimes and it retracts from the story. I take it all with a grain of salt, as it is the first in a series.

I will absolutely be giving more books in the series a chance, as I do like the characters and want to see more of them!
