The Destiny of Violet & Luke by Jessica Sorensen
2.0
I was very intrigued in Luke and Violet. We have Luke on one side who was the total party animal, completely normal being a young guy in college, and was a very loyal friend yet just the fact of dealing with his sister's death is enough to question how come this guy hasn't gone crazy. He was not crazy just completely emotionally blocked and with good reason. He did not see any advantage in letting someone close when he couldn't understand himself and really deal with all that happened in his childhood. Then you have Violet who all we knew about was that she seemed to have guys in her room a lot and was always in a pissy mood. After learning about both of their backstories, my heart was just crushed. I was even more eager for them to know each and other and finally find the much needed comfort. It was a very slow development given that both have severe emotional issues, but I understood, it was the only way they were going to let their guard down. However the ending slashed my heart with a chainsaw. It was too brutal for me. I just threw my kindle because I was in no place to read such a cliffhanger, given that I am under other stresses and just wanted to have a relaxing book. It gives me hope that the next book will salvage my heartache since these two really really really need a good ending.
