I wanted to rate this book higher because I find books surrounding the Holocaust to be extremely meaningful and important for people today to be exposed to. The horrors of the past must be remembered through historical accounts, stories from survivors, writings of the past and biographical accounts in order to honor the millions of victims and prevent future catastrophes. The book's story is inspired by real people and true events, which had me greatly looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, I did not think the writing style or delivery was effective at all. There seemed to be lots of "he did this" and "she said this". The book was organized to read like fiction, so I was put off when there seemed to be more telling and not enough showing.
