The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
5.0
Oh.my.goodness. Gimme allllll of the stars for this one you guys! ❤️ What a beautiful, intense, heart-breaking, inspiring, amazing story! Kristin Hannah has long been one of my favorite authors. As someone who dreams of moving to Alaska and dreams of homesteading, this book was made for me. This is the story of Leni and her family. At 13 years old her father, suffering from PTSD following the Vietnam war, moves his family to Alaska to live off the grid. Her father seems to thrive in this new life...until he doesn't. The darkness takes over and their family is thrust into a life of fear. I don't want to give away too much of the book with my synopsis but it totally rocked me. The writing is so well done, while giving the reader intense emotions of fear and anxiety there is always hope prevalent. I was completely captivated by this story and the characters. I laughed, I gasped, I completely lost my mind and sobbed like a baby. This book is a must read!
