I’m all for atmospheric books, but I guess I prefer fantasy books to be a bit more direct with where they want the character to go and do. I was constantly frustrated with the characters, and that the answer to the protagonist’s questions were usually, “Huh. I don’t know. Try going here. But nobody actually knows the answer.” It felt very hopeless. I always feel bad stopping a series midway through, but this won’t be one I continue.
