Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb

5.0

Idec, I'm obsessed with this series. I don't even know what to say. This world that Hobb created has managed to grip me in a way I thought was lost to me at this point, the way that I would sink into fictional worlds when I was but a lad. I'm obsessed with the plot, I'm obsessed with the characters and I hate when they disappear from the book - even if they do so for good reasons, because I MISS THEM -, and I'm obsessed with the writing, which is mostly just very good, but sometimes so hauntingly beautiful that I'm almost in tears.

The lack of diversity does bother me, I'm not going to lie, and I'm SURE there is some valid criticism to be given for these books, but at the moment I do not care, I have abandoned all critical thinking and am enjoying myself. Maybe I will be analyze them more deeply at some point, but at the moment I don't even want to. I'm simply having too much fun.
