This was fantastic.
I went through a fair number of scifi-horror (one of my favorite sub-genres) books last year trying to find any that knew how to build tension, and instill fear or unease and distress, while also incorporating great characters.
I only found a few. This one goes into that pile.
I loved the plot and feel of the pacing. It was just quick enough and built the correct way to feel uneasy.
Strangely, for me at least, I also found myself drawn into the characters and their back-stories.
At nearly 700 pages it was a little intimidating, but I couldn't stop reading. It just kept pulling me on.
I've already picked up book 2.
