The King is another installment in the series and was actually quite the departure from her usual framework in that the overall plot of the book wasn't a romance that got wrapped up at the end. She has been slowly transitioning from a romance-of-the-week narrative to a more interwoven plot structure that follows multiple narrative arcs across several books. It has been very interesting to watch her evolution as an author.
