This was a cute contemporary romance! ^_^
We follow Gracie Cooper, the middle child who, despite her passion for painting, took the reigns of her late father's failing champagne shop when her siblings didn't show any interest in preserving his legacy. Our male lead, Sebastian Andrews, the head of a giant corporation, rapidly becomes a thorn in her side, when he offer her a buyout! The nerve! :)))
This beautiful romance takes place in New York, and it's full with simple, yet very touching moments: we have a detailed picture of the Cooper family (personalities, likes and dislikes; grief and healing; childhood memories and present events/people) that are nicely woven alongside this slow-burn romance! ^^
We also have the trope of communicating through letters/messages and, in my opinion, it was handled very well in explaining why both of these people were reluctant to find someone for themselves in person.
If I'm being honest with myself, I loved the most the champagne shop and everything that had to do with it; I don't drink and I hardly know the terms used in here, but the found family aspect surrounding it was amazing and very much the needed touch for you to connect with Gracie!
The second best thing about this novel must be the character work: May, the old lady in Gracie's life (no spoilers here as for her role in the story ^^) was great and I actually teared up when I read them alongside the MC's memories from her childhood.
...Speaking of tearing up...yes,...I cried when Gracie had to make a certain decision :(....what can I say??? the writing in here is really good! ^^
Overall, I highly recommend this book if you want a CLEAN ROMANCE with great setting and character work where the family is highly in focus and small business are central! I won't lie and tell you it's not predictable in some places, or that Sebastian and Gracie talk as they should in some instances, but these characters felt real to me and I really connected to the plot! I'll definitely read more from this author!
Enjoy
