I absolutely loved this book. It's a new favourite for me. It was a beautiful contemplation of the natural world, and what your place might be in it. At times it was almost like reading a philosophical text, where conversations between the two main characters contrasted world views and big thoughts about how to exist in the world. The main character, Dex, is compelling and interesting. The world is a fictional, futuristic one, set many years after climate change having changed the continent forever, and it explores the new society built up from a beginning. The descriptions of nature and other setting were exquisite, I felt like I was really there. It made me cry too, just from pure happiness from having read it. It was a queer world too, the main character is queer, as are many characters we meet throughout the story. There was no weirdness about that, people were simply as they are.
