Any Way the Wind Blows by Rainbow Rowell

5.0

Simon never felt like the Chosen one but now that he's not one he doesn't know what to do. I felt so bad for him. Everything changed for him from the moment he turned against Mage. It was right thing to do but it was the moment he started losing and didn't stop. Baz felt like something he was dragging on his way down.

Baz was all Snow had left but he was also a reminder of everything he has lost-- who he was. His match. Someone who might someday deserve him. I like that realizing how broken he is and how much he hurt Baz made him want to change. Snow didn't only loose his magic but also his purpose and the will to try because why do it just to loose more?

Baz has more pressing problems than Snow being a bad boyfriend but he's trying to be patient. He doesn't want to loose Simon and he actually liked him turning on him for comfort and I think that's sweet. Simon is and always have been all Baz wants and he wants Snow to have everything he wants.

I love the fact that Simon believes in reincarnation (taught by the Mage) and that in every life Baz is the love of his life. It's like he believes that they're soulmates. Baz and him are the truest and biggest love. I'm glad we finally got more happy moments from the two and not just angsty stuff. Simon was finally doing something besides letting Baz down. I missed the parts where Simon made Baz laugh and just enjoy himself.

I loved reading about Simon and Baz's relationship but I also liked Penelope and Shepard's romance. It was so sweet how Penelope was the first person to give him hope and she never really gave up on him even when she wanted to.

I still don't care about Agatha but at least I didn't feel like skipping her POV when she had scenes with Niamh.

I liked the kind of mystery about this new Chosen one but I also wish we had learned about other so called chosen ones. I'm so grateful Simon finally found out about his heritance.

All in all Any Way the Wind Blows is what I wanted Wayward Son to be. I just loved everything about Snowbaz in this book. They were great together, even hunting together. I love how supportive they were each other. I know some people were disappointed this book didn't have things from the last book like vampire gang but I didn't really care. I enjoyed learning more about vampires in the last book. At least I don't remember them explaining the difference of eating people and animals before.
