The Change by Kirsten Miller

4.0

Kirsten Miller delivers another gripping mystery thriller, this time centering on three women navigating midlife changes that unlock newfound powers—whether they welcome them or not. Each woman possesses a unique ability, and together they form an unlikely team determined to unravel the mystery behind a series of disappearances in their community.

Miller masterfully intertwines moments of triumph with searing critiques of misogyny, leaving me alternately cheering for the protagonists’ successes and seething at the oppressive societal forces they face. Her talent for highlighting themes of female empowerment is as potent in this novel as it was in her previous work, “Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books.”

If you’re drawn to stories that blend feminism, ghosts, witches, mystery, and magic, this book is a must-read.
