Looks like I am decidedly with the minority on this one.

As it happens, I did stick it out until the end, wanting to see how it all unraveled.

This struck me as an obvious set up for a Lifetime movie. Damsels in distress. Stupid damsels in distress to boot. And so irksome that the protagonists were unable to figure things out for themselves.

Agency-less damsel in distress, not my favorite trope.
