Crowns of Ice by Krista Street
4.0
This is the fourth and final book in the Fae of Snow and Ice series that is your classic “fae with wings” romantasy. Tropes and themes include fated mates, political intrigue, loss and sacrifice, portals, contemporary crossover, winged MMC, winged FMC, touch her and die, found family and banter. This book does contain spicy adult content and dark themes so please check content warnings.
The Lovely: I think I fell even more in love with these characters and their relationships. It’s like you can easily feel how conflicted they are between what they know they need or should do, and what they want to do. This definitely increases the tension and makes you feel right along with them.
The Mundane: I found the parts where the characters go through portals to be a bit jarring. I liked the concept of crossing over with the author’s other world but this felt a bit jarring and out of place to me.
Rating: 4/5 Stars 2/5 Flames
Recommendation: We have reached the end of the series. I miss these sort of traditional slowburn Fae romantasies - they feel more comfortable to me in that I’m not trying to puzzle out mysteries and figure out a ton of world building but instead can just relax and enjoy. While this is a completed series, the author is starting a new series in January 2025 that also takes place in her Supernatural World, meaning we will see some familiar references (and perhaps characters?).
