"Angels drooled and twitched and giggled in the mind-altering electric buzz of liquor store and 24-hour convenience signs."
__________
I just finished this book, and after reading it for several days, and being really invested in it, I still have no clue whatsoever I just read...
I wanted something weird, horrific and short and I got all three of them all right. The story is super weird. It starts with 2 people being "vessels of the elements" Ash being the vessel of Fire and River being the vessel of Water. Their mission is waiting/finding the other 2 vessels, after which they will become one God, and the end of the world will not happen.
One day, Linden walks up to them, and Ash believes they are the vessel of Earth. But Linden (who is attuned to the outside world and has a life there) has a hard time believing in all the "nonsense" Ash and River are sprouting, but they start developing feelings for Ash and decides to humour them for a while, not having the faintest idea they are in for way more than they expected.
The book is WILD! It has body horror, absolutely obscene descriptive horror moments and just mind blowing stuff happening which feels like the reader themselves are tripping or having a fever dream!
I have to say, after a while, I became really invested in their mission and once things start to go awry, there is no turning back. I did like the story in the end and I honestly did not see the ending coming! It still got a solid 3,5 star rating!
If you are looking for something trippy, quick and also horrific, this is definitely the read for you!
