Caveat: I’ve never read caraval or any of that series. I went into this completely blind.

I was really excited for this. It sounded enthralling and intoxicating. And what I got was… boring and a let down. Evangeline and Jacks never really scratched my itch because at times, both were annoying and insufferable. 

While this was an easy read, I found myself being bored most of the time. A book around the gates is refreshing and fun and new but this was not those things.

While I own the second book, I will not be reading it. My time with Evangeline and Jacks ends here and that’s ok.
