February 2025 reread: More comfort readings. On the reread, I realize that the structure of this one is a little strange: it’s essentially two mostly-distinct storylines that are shoved together. (Murderbot doing research into its own past history, and Murderbot bodyguarding some young humans who are trying to get their research back from a woman who wants them dead.) They work together reasonably well, but it does feel like the story is pulling in two different directions sometimes. That said, this is also our introduction to ART, who is one of my more favourite characters in the series. (And I don’t think is nearly as much an asshole as Murderbot thinks it is.) I do so love the quotability of this series.
