Wow - this is my first TJR novel, and I have to say I'm impressed. I will preface this review that one of my favorite things about novels is the character development, growth, background, and experience. And man oh man, can TJR write characters. Even though, at times, I didn't necessarily "like" the characters or relate to them, I was heavily invested in them and appreciated their incredible storytelling. They were fantastic characters - funny, loveable, flawed, and sorrowful. I loved every second of learning about these characters. This type of storytelling felt like I was sitting with the band in the 1970s, watching and hearing everything play out. I can't believe that everything is fiction (regarding the band and characters).
There was so much nuance and detail in Daisy Jones & The Six, and I was either smiling ear to ear or becoming a bit sad because of circumstances. It brought out a plethora of emotions, and I love it when good writing does that. I was invested the whole time and didn't even mind the interview style of reading it (I did not listen to the audiobook). In fact, that was one of my favorite parts because I don't regularly read books with this interview style of writing, and if I do, it's not this good. There was only one time in the beginning when I had to look back at who someone was because I forgot. Other than that, I could easily follow it, and it flowed well. It was a great read.
