Little Weirds by Jenny Slate
4.0
You are feeling lonely but also moved by the small wonders around you in the world like the way your pet seems to know what you're thinking, or how fruit grows on the trees in your backyard and you get to gather it, and your loneliness and wonder is yours but it is also Jenny Slate's, and you are inside her brain and reading her words and seeing yourself reflected in their mirrors. Many times you feel like this world in her brain is strange and even wrong to you, and yet you somehow live in it; somehow you are seen here. And the words that transported you here are poetry but also prose, the images they conjure are surreal but also deeply relatable. If you walk on the path ahead of you, you can expect to go round and round in circles, to be pulled off to one side-road or another, then back into the circles, because that is how thoughts work. Some people like their paths a bit more linear and literal, and that is okay. This world isn't for everyone, but if it's for you, you'll know it.
