As a fan of magical girls, I loved seeing how someone destined to join a lineage of magical girls within their family would handle the situation if they were trans. Getting to see the magic slowly change itself until Max was able to be a magical boy was wonderful and hopefully very affirming for any trans boys reading it. Just be aware there is some transphobia in it, his mom constantly deadnames him, and there are times when Max is forced by magic to present as a girl until it starts shifting to fit him. I can’t wait to read volume 2!
