A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O'Connor
4.0
Another collection which #librarianhusband and I read to each other, this was grotesquely wonderful. Ten stories mostly about ordinary country folk with all their prejudices, histories, and habits. They are dark, sometimes meandering, and also comic. My favourites were A Good Man is Hard to Find, The Displaced Person (very pertinent to lots of current issues - a farmer takes in a Polish worker during the second world war), and Good Country People about a young woman with a false leg and an insurance salesman. Recommended.
