This book was AWESOME!!!
The thoughtful storytelling, the delicious diction, the INCREDIBLE characters, the morality, the history, the politics, the terrible tragedy and yuck of war with a balance laugh out loud humanity... I loved it!!!!!
It is not a light book - it deals with WWII Greece and war totally sucks! And this book doesn't shy away from wars' atrocities... yet Mr. de Benières' creates an epic story full of love and strength.

This is a masterpiece!
