One of my all time favorite books. Yong has such a comfortable writing style. He's terrific at bringing various scientists' work to life. In this book, he gives such deep insight into how various species inhabit and sense the world around them. I especially love his use of the term Umwelt to articulate the various environments which animals inhabit. The final chapter is a wonderful assessment of what humans can do to minimize harm to the other species in our midst, especially when it comes to sound and light pollution.
