This is exactly the kind of world I can get lost in, it's filled with intrigue, danger, and a world of supernaturals.
Samantha is different, she may seem like a normal teen on the surface, but she's been to Hell, literally. Her father is determined to drag her back, and she's doing everything she can to avoid that, except she's also helplessly drawn to chaos and danger and has a need to save everyone she can. Bumping into her neighbour one night draws them both into the unknown as she has to exorcise a demon and open a portal to hell, all with her neighbours help.
Not exactly the introduction she had planned for her crush, but that's the world she lives in.
6 years later their paths cross unexpectedly and it seems destiny has a plan. But romance has to wait for a while as Samantha has a rescue mission in hell, friends to save, her father to avoid, and a whole host of chaos.
I love the found family elements and the bonds they all share, and the mix of shifters, angels and demons.
Although there are dark themes with the demon attacks, possessions, evil father dragging her to hell, the banter and their bonds keeps it lighthearted.
I love the building romance, the way Phoenix is so accepting of Samantha, and the journey they have ahead of them. Excited for book 2!
