Dear Justyce by Nic Stone

This book was not written for me. In fact, when I mentioned that I was reading it, one of my friends was shocked like "I didn't know that was even on your radar." But of course it was. Because Dear Martin was such an important book and, I'd say, Dear Justyce is even more important - because this story is more familiar. The school to prison pipeline, the lack of a support system, the reliance on gangs (and the like) to feel needed and have your back. This is a reality (or one wrong step away from reality) for so many.
