Oh my god, this was so good! I love it soo much that I am literally screaming in excitement! All kinds of happy or sad sounds have been coming out of me while reading this book, I just couldn’t contain myself! I was so into it!
This book truly captivated me and it had me thoroughly invested throughout. I genuinely cared about these characters and I actually felt the emotions they were feeling. It’s hard to explain, but I just really cared so much. And not just about the characters, but also about the plot: it had me completely intrigued. So many things started to reveal themselves, and there were so many cool and interesting scenes. It’s crazy how much better the world-building has gotten from the previous book, and I can’t even imagine how much better everything is going to get from this point onwards.
I just… I love it!!
Now, when it comes to my spoilery opinions:
I felt so so so bad for Chaol in this book. His romance with Celaena was so sweet, and it’s devastatingly obvious how much they both care about each other. And to see them be so soft in the first part and to then see that get ripped away from them in part two; it broke my heart. Chaol didn’t deserve for Celaena to abandon him, but I somewhat understand why she did... The betrayal she felt must have run so deep, even if it wasn’t Chaol’s fault. Urgh, it all just had me so frustrated, but in a good way! I really need them to get back together, and I just feel SO BAD! BUT I LOVE IT!
And well.. I mean, Dorian is sweet and kind, but it’s so obvious that him and Celaena just don’t have the chemistry between them. For Celaena it has always been Chaol, and I hope her and Dorian will grow to have a loving friendship. I am going to be so sad if she’s going to start playing with Dorian’s heart eventually, because we all know that her heart lies with Chaol. WE KNOW IT
