It’s seems that my timing with this one was just right, as I loved reading this novel. Loved it!! I found myself shocked (some characters are downright cruel and abusive), yet highly entertained by all the tribulations that befall our heroine. I was comforted to see Evelina is a just and sensible young woman, who grows in assurance throughout the novel. I read the whole thing with a smile plastered to my face.
Overall appreciation: It’s an excellent classic if you’re in the mood for a satire. To appreciate it fully, you need to understand at least a little what you’re getting into. It’s full of drama and the story goes pretty much in all directions. Very enjoyable!
