This book is about a boy (Charlie) and his love for a dog (Radar). The set up of this book (the first 1/3 of it) was amazing. So much character building and empathy is shown in Charlie and I think that’s what really hooked me to want to finish this 600 page book. in true Stephen King fashion, there is a lot of detail provided in his writing and I can appreciate King's talent for that because I imagine scenes so vividly.

That being said, I don’t think this book needed to be 600 pages long. The “fairytale” adventure part of the story is extremely repetitive and I think King did the readers a disservice by introducing so many characters so late in the book. I honestly lost track of a lot of them towards the latter middle part of the book. While there were some redeemable adventure scenes that would bring me back into the story here and there, a lot of the detail and fluff could’ve been cut out to help keep a consistent pacing of the story.

Overall I think this story will absolutely be favs by some readers and strong dislikes by others. With pacing that is so stop and go, that’s bound to happen. I still really enjoyed it and very pleased with how the story was wrapped up!
