This was actually a pretty solid novella. The concept was incredibly interesting, and it was an innovative take on the "end of the world." I also really enjoyed the narrative framing, since hearing it told as a word of mouth story also really aligns with the central idea of not being able to discern reality from delusion. I ultimately just wanted more from this story - more thorough worldbuilding, more fleshed-out characters, a bit more intrigue. It's a good story, and the ending was impactful, but I just found myself wishing we had more time with these characters and stakes in their story.
Overall, a worthwhile read and a clever new angle on the apocalypse and collective delusion.
