I think this book is highly underrated, and as a huge Em Hen fan, I knew I needed to read it. I loved the writing style of this book. It was lyrical, engaging, and emotional, and I really enjoyed that. This was such a different style than I was used to from Emily, as this came out much sooner than her adult romances, but I liked it regardless. I got a little lost in the middle with the magical realism elements and was trying to keep up with the various family trees, but they took me out of the story a bit. I did love June and Saul, though. They were great characters, and their banter was exceptional. I also valued the friendships throughout the story. I enjoyed this book for sure, and I'm excited to check out more of her YA backlist!
