Orange Is the New Black: My Year In a Women's Prison by Piper Kerman

3.0

This is really a 3.5 star book for me. I read it before watching the show & quite enjoyed it. I had a few issues with the author's perspective; it also didn't really delve into her (or anyone's) emotional state. That said, I liked that the book interspersed info/views on the prison industrial complex & the war on drugs with the day to day life (at least for her, thru her lens) in a minimum security prison. It was an easy read, and entertaining, if oddly light. I've now started watching the show, which I'm enjoying, but it is pretty different from the book, so I would recommend both.
