This book was achingly beautiful. Things I liked about this book:
1) beautiful, poetic use of language and imagery
2) fun with language, including the insertion of new dialectic from the Orkney Islands
3) literary allusions
4) allusions to folklore
5) a love story with lots of poignancy
6) lots of introspection by the narrator
7) its very Britishness, for lack of a better word
So yeah, I loved it.
