least favorite pierce series. i can see where they were groundbreaking and important, and they ARE good, but alanna just... gets too big too much, with magic and gods' attention and great things, and i never got the proper sense of her as a character, and what i got i respected but didn't love. the books get progressively more interesting as they go, she makes some intriguing and thoughtful choices in the last one, and it's a good setting for the whole tortall universe, though.

also, my friends laughed at me a lot over my reaction to romantic storylines. most satisfying resolution of everything, i'd say.
