Once you get over the heartbreak that this sequel isn’t the same narrator (it’s Gordo’s POV, not Ox’s), this book buries itself into your heart like the first one did. You still follow Ox’s story closely— in fact, it emphasizes the love story juxtaposition between Ox/Joe and Gordo/Mark. But now it’s not just about “pine cones and candy canes” and exploring loss, but also about the magic of Green Creek, and Gordo’s turn for “epic and awesome”.
