I was unaware that this book revisits and re-contextualises various characters and concepts from the author’s previous works, and so missed this aspect on my read through. However, it still made for an enjoyable read with the gradual reveal of some elements (
the alternate history and science setting surrounding the Bramha Theory
) really hooking me, perhaps more so than if I had read the source material.
The cast are fascinating and the prose used adds a lot of character to the narrative, but the plot feels a bit lacklustre - appropriate for a self-indulgent “crossover”.
