Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco

4.0

If you're stuck in the first 50 pages, press on, it does get easier.
This novel seems more relevant than ever with its delve into occult conspiracy theories, and can almost be recommended as an educational text for this reason.
As a novel it works because the protagonists remain rooted in a recognisable real world despite the weirdness that gradually sweeps them up. There's some evocative imagery and fascinating characters.
